InPress:: Spur Poster Design Development

As we discussed in our meeting yesterday, Sadie and Francesca would take charge of the image for the poster design for spur magazine and Naill and myself would produce the type. The girls produced the image this afternoon and explained how they were going to print it; using the four colours of the proposed business cards to create the marbelling effect that we are going to use on the collective business card for the four of us. This then gave Naill and myself and idea of what space we had to work with and a chance for us to play with the type around this. We decided to keep the type simple, we wanted the poster to promote Inpress design but at the same time the magazine it came out of. Consequently, we kept the type minimal and wrote only 'Inpress design' and 'Spur magazine' using the same type face as our logo to follow on from our branding. We tried a few different variations, but decided on having 'inpress design' central so that the focus of the poster is on us (due to the heirarchy create) and spur is read after. The type is going to printed in black to create a bold contrast to the marbelled colours of the pattern. I did suggest the type be printed in a metallic gold to make it appear more bespoke, but we decided the bold black would make it more readable.

Our overall aim of the poster was to create something that people could enjoy and keep, as well as it being a piece of promotional material for inpress design. I think we have achieved this.

Sadie and Francesca are going to send this to Spur magazine for them okay it tomorrow, then they are going to get on with printing it next week ready to be distributed alongside the magazine early November.
