inpress:: postcard

As inpress are each producing a postcard to sell as a pack, I want mine to represent me as a designer (use it like a big business card/promotional material) therefore I want my postcard to relate to my practice and what I believe in. Consequently, I am going to use the Joe Sparano quote I researched 'Good design is obvious. Great design is transparent.' I truly believe in this. We go by our daily lives without even considering some of the most innovative design and it can only be when it is pointed out to us that this remarkable design comes to light. As well as having a typographic focus, I want to play upon this using print processes (which is another element of my design practice which I want to keep alive) to highlight the point I am making.

The 'good design is obvious' will be printed on the stock using black ink.
The 'great design is transparent' will be embossed into the page using a copper plate.

Hopefully the concept will become more obvious through the print processes. I am making the 'great design...' better than the 'good design...' by using a specialist printing technique.

I really really hope this works! I am going to get a copper plate sorted down at Vernon street on Monday so I can start embossing.
